Maersk Ruakura Superhub

‍Hamilton, New Zealand - Visionary Technologies Ltd is pleased to announce that its high-efficiency lighting solutions have been selected for Maersk's new state-of-the-art, integrated cold chain facility at the Ruakura Superhub. This significant facility, with an investment of approximately NZD 140-150 million, marks Maersk’s largest infrastructure investment in New Zealand and positions Hamilton as a pivotal point within the Golden Triangle for freighting and logistics.

Maersk's new facility effectively extends ocean logistics inland, offering customers comprehensive supply chain management, including import, export, and cross-docking services. It facilitates the seamless exchange of goods between rail and truck, creating a highly flexible and efficient supply chain network within Waikato and the broader New Zealand region. Situated at the heart of the Golden Triangle, between Auckland and Tauranga, Hamilton is strategically important, with 65% of New Zealand’s total freight passing through this corridor. Maersk's cold chain facility will further bolster the region’s economic and logistical capabilities.

Visionary Technologies' advanced Highbays lights were selected to illuminate the 18,000 square meter facility. These lights were chosen for their outstanding efficiency, minimal heat generation, durability in harsh conditions, and superior output capabilities, ensuring reliable and sustainable lighting throughout the facility. These features are particularly important for maintaining the quality of products stored in the cold chain environment, which houses nearly 30,000 pallets of products in both cold rooms and blast freezers.

The facility supports a diverse range of customers, including New Zealand’s largest dairy company, Fonterra, as well as BluePrint Global/NZ Grass-Fed Butter, Mega Foods, and Service Foods. The inclusion of blast freezers that can freeze produce to international standards within 24 hours ensures that products retain their quality during transit, resulting in fresher goods upon arrival at their destinations.
